Holubice is in the Praha-západ District, about 5 km south of Kralupy nad Vltavou. The municipality also includes the settlement of Kozinec, founded in 1778.

The first written record of Holubice dates to 1204, when King Přemysl Otakar I gave the village to the canons of Prague. The Romanesque Church of the Nativity of the Virgin Mary is a rotunda with an apse. Original frescoes are preserved in the apse.
