Cítov, including the local district of Daminěves, lies about 8 km from Mělník. The village is beside the road to Roudnice nad Labem. The first written record dates from 1268.

The Church of St Linhart stands on a rise in the village centre and dates from around 1210. It was rebuilt in the Baroque style in 1753 and is surrounded by a cemetery wall. The Baroque chateau beside the church was restored after the fire in 1940 and serves as the administrative building of Zemědělská Cítov a.s.
